It's the Maine Sardine!

In 1949, Maine was the sardine capital of the world. This film highlights every part of the process: from catching and salting to canning and cooking. In Live Lobster: Maine Lobsterman, Phil Alley shows how he catches lobster, what they eat, and tells about their annual cycle. As a special bonus, we will be showing the famed Alka Seltzer commercial, featuring Dale Torrey, our local harbormaster.

Fishing for the Future

Fishing for the Future is about the importance of sustainable ocean harvesting, and how fishermen, scientists, and lawmakers work with (and sometimes against) one another, to shape the future of the marine industries.

A Tale of Two Fisheries: A three part video series examining marine ecosystems, cod and lobster, and the collapsing fish stocks in Maine.

Salmon Country

This 1950s film, created by Phil Harriman of Cherryfield, documents the heyday of Atlantic salmon and landlocked salmon sport fishing on the famous Narraguagus River and Tunk Lake.

In The Ballad of the Purple Clam, local artist Adam Fisher uses claymation to tell the story of a determined clam-digger and his arch-enemy, the purple clam.

Lobster and Scallop Fishing in Penobscot Bay, Maine

Tommy Hildings fishes for Lobster summer and winter on his wooden lobster boat, off Vinalhaven, using wooden lobster traps as generations of lobstermen have done before him.

Realm of the Lobster
