June 27, 2008 - EvergreenThis four-piece group's eclectic style melds elements of bluegrass, folk, blues, old-time, country, and swing into a seamless mix of upbeat, energizing acoustic music that appeals to a wide range of listeners. Smooth, tight harmonies, solid instrumentation, original interpretations and strong songwriting make this fine band worthwhile listening. Instruments (with exception of Joe's great harmonica!) get swapped off while Joe and Nellie Kennedy share vocals with Chris Prickitt and Steve Chiasson. www.evergreenmaine.com

July 25, 2008 - Paul GeremiaFirst rate bluesman, songwriter, scholar of early jazz
and blues, and one of the best country blues fingerpickers, Paul brings
his tools - six and twelve-string guitars, harmonica, piano and a husky
soulful voice for a third appearance at the Coffeehouse. With an innate
sense of the humour as well as the drama of the music, he keeps traditional
blues fresh and alive with his performances. Combining his interpretation
of the earlier music of people like Blind Lemon Jefferson, Robert Johnson,
Blind Willie McTell, Scrapper Blackwell and Blind Blake, and with his
original compositions, he has created a style which is very much his own
and which receives accolades in the U.S.A. and Europe.

September 26, 2008 - Steve Gillette & Cindy Mangsen"Steve and Cindy have hit on a combination that consistently produces high quality recordings and entertaining stage shows. Their voices and styles meld seamlessly with a gentleness and a maturity that is unmatched in the world of folk duos." Sing Out Magazine review of their latest album, Being There"Cindy Mangsen has a rare voice that radiates smoke and crystal, yet she manages difficult traditional material with intelligence... Mangsen is a grand and special singer." Come For to Sing"Steve Gillette sings easily, smoothly, in a mellow
voice free of any affectation. He writes thoughtful, perceptive, unpretentious
songs, keeps his subjects in perspective, and by doing so refines the
sensitivities of his listeners. Steve Gillette is one of the best songwriters
in the folk idiom and an equally good performer"
